On 27 September 2024, our school had the privilege of hosting an enlightening talk on “The Government’s work on improving district governance,” delivered by Miss Alice Mak, SBS, JP, Secretary for Home and Youth Affairs, and accompanied by Mr. Michael Kwan Ke Lin, JP, District Officer of Tuen Mun. The event aimed to raise students’ awareness about the importance of effective governance at the district level and its impact on their communities.
The talk began with an engaging presentation by Miss Alice Mak, who outlined the government’s initiatives to improve district governance. Students learned about various policies and programs that promote transparency, accountability, and community involvement.
Following the presentation, students participated in an interactive Q&A session. Many students expressed their thoughts and posed insightful questions, demonstrating their interest and eagerness to understand how governance affects their lives.
We were honoured to have Mrs Helena C. Y. Tung Pong, Po Leung Kuk Chairman, in attendance. Mrs Pong expressed heartfelt gratitude to Miss Alice Mak for sharing valuable insights and emphasised the importance of such discussions in fostering informed future leaders.
