Principal’s Message-2026
Dear Parents and Students,
Welcome to the start of a new academic year at PLKC. I extend a warm welcome back to all our returning students, teachers, and staff, and a heartfelt greeting to our new Form 1 students as they join the PLKC family. I trust everyone enjoyed a fruitful summer and returns revitalised for the journey ahead.
Strengthening leadership in the school administration team
To kick off the new academic year, I am delighted to introduce key updates to our school leadership team and teaching force. Joining Vice-Principal Ms LEE Hau-yan in steering the college forward, we welcome two new Vice-Principals:
- Ms LAI Yuen-yee, Vice-Principal (Student Development), overseeing student discipline, guidance, and co-curricular learning.
- Ms WONG Wing-ying, Acting Vice-Principal (School Administration), focusing on staff development, resource allocation, and IT coordination.
Additionally, we warmly welcome our new Native English Teachers, Ms Chacko and Ms Khan, to our English Department.
Celebrating Academic Excellence: Class of 2026
We take immense pride in the outstanding accomplishments of our Class of 2026 graduates in the HKDSE. Out of 115 graduates:
- About half, 47.7%, of all results attained Level 5 or above, with 7.8% achieving Level 5**—a historic record for our college.
- Six subjects recorded their best performance in our 15-year DSE history, while three others closely approached their record highs.
Our graduates have achieved stellar university admissions across top international and local universities:
- Special recognition goes to Louis FONG Lok-man (5** x 6, 5* x 1) and Joel LAI Yat-long (5** x 4, 5* x 3). Both Louis and Joel have made the remarkable decision to pursue their passion for the natural sciences at the University of Cambridge, choosing this pathway over their offers for the prestigious Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) & Global Physician Leadership Scheme (GPS) at CUHK. Furthermore, Daniel LIANG Shuran has successfully secured one of the 5 annual quotas for the prestigious Dual Degree Programme in Politics, Philosophy and Economics, jointly offered by The University of Hong Kong and Peking University.
- An exceptional 20% of our graduating cohort are pursuing their aspirations in medically related disciplines. This includes 6 students admitted to the Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS/MBChB) at HKU and CUHK; Dental Surgery, Veterinary Medicine, and 3 in Chinese Medicine; alongside several pursuing Nursing at both HKU and CUHK, and Radiotherapy and Occupational Therapy at PolyU.
- Our graduates continue to excel across diverse fields, securing admissions into elite programmes including the Bachelor of Laws (LLB) and BBA (Law) and Bachelor of Laws (Double Degree) at HKU, Global Business (GBUS) at HKUST, and the integrated Bachelor and Master of Science in Engineering at HKU.
Their dedication stands as an inspiring beacon for all Centenarians.
Setting the Horizon: The New 3-Year School Development Cycle
As we commence our new 3-Year School Development Cycle this year, our strategic focus centres on two key pillars:
- Empowering Academic Excellence through Self-Directed Learning and Pedagogical Development: Academic growth begins with ownership. Centenarians are expected to actively engage in their learning through thorough pre-lesson preparation and the punctual, diligent submission of assignments.
- Nurturing Students with a Growth Mindset, Holistic Wellness, and Personal Responsibility: Through our new Goal-Setting Initiative, students will formulate short-term academic targets and long-term aspirations, regularly reviewing them with teachers and parents. This initiative is complemented by self-reflection on daily habits, balancing screen time, prioritising daily reading, building physical exercise habits, and healthy sleep routines.
Campus Infrastructure Upgrades
Over the summer, extensive campus improvements were completed to enrich our students’ learning environment:
- Sports Facilities: Upgraded sports grounds featuring new basketball posts and a brand-new fitness gym room to promote physical wellness and safe training.
- Music Room: Fully revamped with modern interactive teaching aids to foster creativity.
- School Library: Undergoing comprehensive renovation, set for its grand reopening this November. In the interim, a temporary library service operates seamlessly out of the Geography Room.
Looking Ahead
Success is built on daily choices, disciplined habits, and a resilient mindset. As we step into this promising academic year, I encourage every student to approach their studies with curiosity, uphold high standards of personal responsibility, and support one another.
Let us work hand in hand to make this a year of remarkable growth, personal wellness, and academic brilliance.
Centenarian is something more!
