Vienna and Germany Music Masterclass and Performance Tour 2026

 11 May 2026

From April 17th to 26th, 2026, thirty-three talented musicians from our school choir and orchestras embarked on an unforgettable journey through Europe for the “Vienna and Germany Music Masterclass and Performance Tour.”

Masterclasses with World-Class Virtuosos

The tour offered our students unparalleled access to the heart of the classical music world. A significant highlight was the opportunity to observe a rehearsal of the world-famous Vienna Boys’ Choir.

Beyond observation, our students participated in intensive choral, violin, piano, and flute masterclasses led by distinguished mentors, including:

  • Ms. Veronika Schulz
  • Mr. Matthias Schulz
  • Mr. Jimmy Chiang, the renowned conductor of the Vienna Boys’ Choir.

A Fusion of Cultures in Calw

The centerpiece of the tour was a public concert in the town of Calw, Germany. Performing alongside the prestigious Aurelius Sängerknaben, our students showcased a vibrant program for an audience of over 100 local guests.

The performance was a beautiful bridge between East and West. Our musicians proudly showcased Chinese culture through:

  • Cantonese Opera
  • Chinese Instrumental Ensembles featuring the Dizi, Erhu, and Liuqin.
  • Western Ensemble and Choral Music with Oriental Elements, utilizing the pentatonic scale to evoke the atmospheric sounds of Indonesian folk life.

The most poignant moment of the evening was the performance of 不了情” (Love Without End), arranged by Taiwanese composer Ran Tien-Hao. Its subtle yet profound expression of parting served as a moving symbol of Chinese aesthetic philosophy, deeply touching the hearts of the German audience.

Celebrating a Legacy

To conclude the concert, our choir joined forces with the Aurelius Sängerknaben for a powerful crossover performance. In honor of the 270th anniversary of W.A. Mozart’s birth, the combined choirs performed “Ave Verum Corpus” and “Dona Nobis Pacem.”

Singing these Latin masterpieces within the hallowed acoustics of a traditional church was a transformative experience. For our young musicians, this tour was more than just a trip—it was a life-defining milestone in their aesthetic and professional development.
