Outstanding Summer Research Intern Award at CityUHK Summer Research Internship 2025

 06 Oct 2025

We are delighted to announce that Chan Chun Yu from 6D, former Vice President of the Robotics Team, has been honoured with the Outstanding Summer Research Intern Award at the City University of Hong Kong’s Summer Research Internship 2025, organized by the Bright Future Engineering Talent Hub. This highly competitive program selected 50 exceptional interns through a rigorous interview process, offering them the opportunity to engage in cutting-edge engineering research under the mentorship of CityUHK’s distinguished faculty and PhD students.

Chun Yu joined the research team led by Professor Sun Yuxiang, making significant contributions to the project titled Pedestrian Detection for Mobile Robots. During his two-week internship, he developed innovative algorithms for autonomous driving, which were successfully implemented and tested on a robot he designed and built. The promising outcomes of this project suggest potential applications in fields such as driverless taxis. Among the 50 talented interns, Chun Yu’s research ranked in the top three, earning him this prestigious award.

Chun Yu expresses his heartfelt gratitude to those who supported him throughout this journey, including Professor Sun Yuxiang for his invaluable guidance, the Bright Future Engineering Talent Hub for organizing this remarkable program, Principal Lui for his unwavering support of the Robotics Team, Mr. Wong Kin Pong, his robotics coach of five years, for his dedicated mentorship, and Mr. Tse Yu Him for nominating him for this incredible opportunity.

We are immensely proud of Chun Yu’s achievement and look forward to witnessing his continued success as an aspiring engineer!
