Our Inspiring CS Study Trip to Shanghai
03 Jul 2026
Our recent Citizenship and Social Development (CS) study trip to Shanghai offered Form 5 students a memorable journey blending innovation, history, and culture. Over four days, participants gained deeper insights into China’s national development and heritage.
- On Day 1, we explored the bustling Nanjing Road Walkway and ascended the iconic Oriental Pearl Tower, where stunning skyline views highlighted Shanghai’s modern achievements.
- Day 2 combined industry and tradition. We toured the Shanghai Volkswagen Plant, observing advanced manufacturing technology. We then visited the picturesque Zhujiajiao Ancient Town, admired the historic Zikawei Library, and ended with a magical night cruise along the Huangpu River, admiring the illuminated Bund and Pudong.
- Day 3 focused on history and culture. At the Shanghai World Expo Museum, students learned about urban innovation and sustainability. We reflected at the Memorial Hall of the First CPC National Congress, then enjoyed Xintiandi, the classical beauty of Yu Garden, and the lively City God Temple commercial street.
The trip concluded on Day 4 at the Qian Xuesen Library, where exhibits on the pioneering scientist inspired us with stories of dedication and technological progress.
This study trip strengthened students’ civic awareness and national pride. It vividly illustrated how Shanghai harmonizes tradition with modernity, leaving lasting memories and valuable lessons on China’s past, present, and future.
